The next meeting of the formal epistemology reading group will take place on Sunday (Nov. 13) 6:00 pm in Room 720, Philosophy Hall. Haim has recently read a beautiful short “elementary” proof of Brouwer’s fixed point theorem. The proof does not use the usual algebraic topology tools, but it illuminates the combinatorial factor. The proof generalizes easily to a proof of Kakutani’s fixed point theorem. So in the next meeting, Haim will spend perhaps 20-30 minutes to talk about the proof, this will be followed by a discussion of a paper of Drazen Prelec on decision theory by Rush and me.
Hope to see you all there!
